Andy Ho
Andy Ho focuses on a three-dimensional practice, with installation and sculpture in various materials. His practice explores the essence and interactions between time-space and human beings, through a logical and conceptually oriented approach. Believing that a place shapes a person, his works investigate the influence of spatial context, socioeconomic phenomena, geography, and cultures on our condition of existence and way of thinking, ultimately proposing a reflection on our perception and sense of identity.

35% of Hong Kong geography is made from granite, and this 35% is mostly located under the city, the city with ups and downs, possibilities, and uncertainties to confront. Granite, supporting and constructing the ground we stand on, reminds us of the values we treasure on this land.

Steel

Inclined, with two flukes not in the soil, the anchor of the campus seems not hooked firmly but loosening and easily to be lifted. A state illustrating the mobility of buildings and changeability of cities in macroscopic human history. In contrast to the constructing real estate at the front, the anchor reflects the uncertain state of the campus.

Extending from the sockets, each concrete plug could be interpreted as a building, a human, or a cell. They resemble one another but aren't identical, and when connected they give a sense of a network and metabolism, each of which could be considered individually as a body, or connected as a body in a collective. ‘Body,’ in this interpretation, is a system of connection, a form of repetition that yet reserves differences among individuals. Connected with the electrical system behind the walls, audiences are surrounded by the artwork plugged in to a system, part of an expanded body.
