With the unique method of moulding while employing the simplest clay ingredients, Ng Ka Yi embraces the connection between ceramic and nature in each of the individual hexagonal prisms, each with its own unique deform and cracks, emphasising the tension between her as the artist and the material’s uncontrollable side. Hexagon as a shape appears in honeycomb, hexagonal rock columns and kaolin (one of the common components of clay body) particles, connecting the ceramic material with nature. She imitates and embraces the beauty of imperfections through the work and sees it as the natural order and the dialogue between her and ceramic.
