Kwan Sin Mei
Sophia Kwan's (b. 2001, Hong Kong) paintings invite viewers to delve into an intimate encounter of her psychological self-image through drafty graphite lines and earthy color tones that reveal her emotional flow. Kwan's works are often influenced by Jung's archetypal theory and Shamanic mythology and her internal dialogues reflecting on her life experiences. Her painting functions as a visual manifestation of self-reflection, carrying a mindfulness journey. The artist morphs her sentiments into the images, revealing her sincere desire to establish intimate relationships and connections with people around herself.

The endless pink hue, dark silhouettes, and ghost-like deer form an internal emotional landscape, dreamlike yet familiar, narrating untold and undisclosed stories. What does this imagery evoke for you? How do you feel?
無垠的粉紅色,陰暗的人影,幽靈似的鹿是內在的情緒景觀,如夢似幻又似曾相識,述說著無人知曉、未被道出的敘事。這景象令你聯想起什麼?你有什麼觸動?

The work explores my spiritual expression of the self-portrait as the animal fawn, investigating the sensibility and tension between a wood piece and charcoal drawings.
