Yiu is a Hong Kong-based media artist.
He works with virtually rendered videos and interactive media. For instance, he gets inspiration from the slowly passing time or activities like cutting nails.

Yiu is a Hong Kong-based Multi-media Designer.
He brings the CGI images and motion graphics into graphic design and media experience design. He has worked with corporations and NGOs, including The Nan Fung Group, The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups, and The Hong Kong Baptist University.

Our passion, emotions, and attention travel through the 8 hours and 9,616.54 kilometers that separate us. Yet, in that distance, they blur. After three years without such a separation, I found myself compelled to fly to her, to see the deer and swans in quiet harmony.

This work seeks to visualize the detachment and the complex emotions that cannot be put into words. The narrative unfolds with screens of varying densities and resolutions, constructing this installation that embodies the connection across time and space.

This work is inspired by the absence of physical presence and the tacit intimacy between us. Our greetings stagger, but they sometimes coincide. We could not see each other in the eyes, but we are deeply connected in our minds.

We see each other in pixels, we meet each other in our minds.

I hate the internet connection in London.

Her good-nights arrive tomorrow morning,

It feels like I have to look back in time to see her.

"Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind, And therefore is winged Cupid painted blind."

A Midsummer Night's Dream – William Shakespeare

———————————————————————————————————————————————————–

This work reflects the delicate balance between "digital companionship" and "the longing for physical presence". As the audience approaches, white pixels drift toward them, symbolizing the intimacy of online connection, the attention toward each other, and the intangible space that remains between. Meanwhile, black pixels quietly recede…

The swans glide as we approach,

yet I cannot tell if they are black or white,
whether they swim toward me or drift away.

The swans are much bigger than I saw in her videos.

———————————————————————————————————————————————————–

This work explores the subtle difference in our shared experiences with live recordings, using our favorite mediumseven on the same grass, it would never be the same as her first visit there.

She brought me to her favorite park.

The huge tree had been chopped down, but the deer remains.

But we could not tell if they were the same deer.

I still remember the lines she drew when I first met her—
how they carried something unspoken.

PREVIOUS WORK

the edge

Oil on canvas, Projection on wall, 2024, 150 x 120 cm, 1 minute 22 seconds

This work is inspired by a large-scale protest in Seoul, Korea, where demonstrators called for an end to the killing of Palestinian children and civilians, shedding light on the ongoing conflict in Palestine. Witnessing this movement, the artist was prompted to reflect on the controlled flow of information that shapes our perception of reality, often distorting it into a romanticized vision. He also confronted his own apathy toward global events, questioning the emotional distance we maintain in the face of tragedy. Through the juxtaposition of canvas and projection, this piece merges the timeless aura of painting with precisely programmed moving images. The interplay between static and dynamic elements blurs the boundary between rational analysis and emotional response, immersing the audience in the artist's contemplation of romanticized violence and the unsettling feeling woven into the conflict.

sketch

Performance, light on wall, 4 nails, 2024, Size and duration variable.

This artwork is a choreography of live-generated moving images, featuring the artist's hands in rhythmic motion. Through symmetrical patterns and the interplay of black and white, it explores the act of mark-making with light upon the wall. The work invites contemplation: are the black lines the marks, or is it the white light that inscribes its presence?

Intersection

Virtual installation on Meta Quest 3 (Re-master of the physical installation), Touchdesigner, 2025, Size and duration variable.

While we sleep, the heartbeat of the metropolis never ceases—an unseen pulse that binds us to the city in ways we cannot fully comprehend. This work is inspired by the artist's vision of the city at midnight—a moment when its rhythm is both solitary and alive. The beats shift as visitors interact with the abstract circles, responding to their movements; the faster their gestures, the quicker the pulse. These sounds intertwine, forming a symphony of the city's heartbeat—an echo of its existence when it sings alone.
