Chan Suet Ying Sharon
陳雪瑩

Sharon Chan explores the intersections of her personal experiences growing up in Hong Kong, societal expectations, and broader social issues through her art and design practice. Her work acts as a bridge between her inner emotions and the external world.

Beneath the soap lies the trace of stress, repetition, and regret. 

 

Accumulation, expansion, melting… 

When everything turns into bubbles, what will remain? Will it continue into another cycle, or dissolve into endless emptiness? 

 

在肥皂之下,藏著壓力、重複與後悔的痕跡。 

 

累積,膨脹,融化……  

當一切化成泡沫後還會剩下什麼?是繼續新一輪的循環,還是無盡的空虛?

Inspired by the phenomenon in which people live in close physical proximity yet experience low social connection in modern society, the artwork invites viewers to reflect on urban loneliness.

The Egg Feast is inspired by marriage and the sacrifices of women during childbirth, depicting the bond between mother and child.

Inspired by my experience of growing up in a grassroots family in Hong Kong, the zine illustrated the people, objects, phenomena that people ignore in our daily life, inviting audiences to engage with the details of everyday lives in Hong Kong.
