Joy Chan, Her work reflects personal micro-observations and explores the intimate connections of being human. She embraces a non-restrictive approach to medium selection, allowing for uncertainty and experimentation. She investigates themes of conceptual, memory, and the complexities of existence. Her artistic practice is sustained by the belief that the seemingly mundane connections build the larger narrative of life.

This’s started with the dissolution and reconstruction of “home.”

I grind collected architectural debris into dust, attempting to physically lighten its weight upon me, allowing it to drift with the wind or cling to footstep, as a metaphor for the fluidity of memory and belonging.

Then, I pack them into burlap sacks and drag them along the city's edges. They leak away or settle into crevices, manifesting a paradox of presence and absence, briefly marking their return path that is destined to disappear while etching time itself.

And trying to covertly create a dialogue in a fragmented of space with this Sisyphean act.

A space that provides an experiment of wordless dialogue. In the dim space, light, movement, and gaze become language.
