Framed: A Moment in Cloud

Watercolour on Xuan Paper

A set of 48: 20 cm × 20 cm each

Why must clouds flee?

They linger still.

Blue bleeds into damp mist,

traced by a bird’s wing.

Clouds drift, birds fly—

Yet time holds its breath.

When you gaze,

white clouds rise in memory;

When you look away,

pigments seep quietly into paper.

In this framed moment,

a bird, a cloud—

Forever anchored on the page,

became silent and poetry.

白雲緩緩於記憶深處湧起;

Stitched bound book (綫裝冊頁),150 × 160 × 10mm (10pages), Cyanotype printed on Unryu Paper

Inspired by Chinese hieroglyphics, the artist fuses cyanotype technique with Chinese calligraphy, printing different shapes of clouds photography onto Chinese characters, thus demonstrating the close connection between nature and Chinese characters. The blue color of cyanotype coincides with the blue sky, and the use of cyanotype solutions instead of ink for calligraphy on Xuan paper adds to the traditional Chinese aesthetic of this artworks.
