ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Sorrel Ching Wing (b. 2003) focuses on ceramics and life-casting, using the medium as a tool for documenting the residual evidence of physical existence. By utilizing life-casting to capture and use high-firing process to solidify body traces, she translates fleeting impressions left upon the human form into permanent sculptural archives.

Her works investigate the tension between the body as a biological record and the subjectivity of self-identity, probing the boundary between what is physically experienced and what is psychologically retained.

Skin receives quietly.

The waistband, the chair edge, the accidental bruise.

Only leave too subtle for others to find, too full to explain.

When the process fired into permanent, can it carry those unspoken?

This work explores the ‘stranger' within oneself through 64 self-portraits drawn from memory. This process highlights the tension between the body we can touch and the identity we cannot always define.

Where the Sound Lands

Speakers, transparent paper

Duration variable

This project invites visitors to listen to the city sound in Weimar and respond through drawing. Throughout the four-day exhibition, the transparent papers are placed on the window, which becomes a site where sound, memory, and imagination meet. As the city echoes through the speakers, each mark drawn reflects a personal interpretation. Thus, it reveals how the same sound can land differently in every mind.
