Three different cats curl up on a wide mat. From different angles, their expressions shift. The smoky gray on their bodies may hold something heavy, while the white feels like the lightness that comes only after a real rest. As they lie there quietly, we cannot tell whether they are happy or sad. This is how I try to speak my own feelings — that complex, hard-to-describe state of being that was, nonetheless, truly there.
PREVIOUS WORK
The works are created with clay in three states — past, present, and future, paying tribute to every artist who breathes new life into the soil through ceramic art. Centred on a vibrant dragon, the pieces depict surrounding plants absorbing its energy to generate new life, symbolising the cycle and process of existence.
I have come to realise that much of my childhood was spent coping — learning to meet others’ expectations and doing what I could not do on my own. It was like a child picking up a goblet to sip wine they did not understand. Now, I want to create my own toy-like goblets, paired with wine and Sprite, to try relaxing and being a child at heart.
