The ‘Threads Entwined’ explores the intricate fusion of tradition and technology, weaving the cultural memory of Sichuan opera face-changing with the modern language of mechanical art. Using Arduino, sensors, and stepper motors, the dynamic installation mimics the dramatic motion of silk masks transitioning in an instant, capturing moments where the past reverberates in the present. Each unveiling movement becomes a silent dialogue between history and technology, inviting viewers to witness how traditional artistry finds new life within the precision of modern machinery. This project stands as a testament to the interplay of time, memory, and creativity, showcasing the unique beauty born from the symbiosis of cultural heritage and innovative thought.

A 1.2-metre-long sculpture of the iconic Hong Kong
tram, serves as a metaphor for the city’s collective
consciousness. This piece transcends mere
representation; it embodies the shared experiences
and memories of countless Hong Kong residents who
have witnessed the city’s transformation through
the lens of this enduring symbol of urban mobility.
The tram, as a cultural artifact, represents both
permanence and change.

“Memory” is an installation artwork that combines everyday objects with family memories. I ingeniously reassembled two apple peelers to create a device resembling a cassette tape, using apple peel as a medium to carry memory, with a profound family story inscribed upon it.
對談
Mix Media, 2023, size variable
Two dance lions on a stage converse through their unique dances. The wooden lion embodies traditional lion dance, while the acrylic lion showcases a modern style. They represent the interplay between traditional culture and modern technology. No one knows the content of their conversation; are they arguing or praising each other? This embodies our time’s attempt to integrate the two, and whether the result is good or bad is up to us to decide.
