ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
藝術家簡介

Alice KEE Pui Han focuses on craft and design in her university studies, specialising in graphic design, object design, and kiln-forming glass. She aims to capture the delightful aspects of life and explore the theme of growth, hoping to evoke happiness, positivity, and echo with others. Additionally, Alice sees her artwork as a means of documenting her own life experiences and expressing her childlike spirit. In her artwork, she usually works with paper, fabric, acrylic and glass. As lamps plays a pivotal role in her life, she likes to include light in her 3-dimensional artworks. She employs vivid colours and dynamic geometrical shapes to evoke a sense of joy and playfulness in her design, aiming to present the cuteness of the world with her visual art.

Decisions to make,
what to keep, what to take,
Amidst the “good” and “bad” emotions’ wake,
Building my world with each passing day,
Unsure and anxious,
life’s wavy way.

Refuse to grow,
Escape to another meadow,
Like a gingerbread man,
Running as fast as I can.

Yet I plucked up the courage,
understanding the truth,
To connect with the unknown,
the ideal-self pursued,
Through memories and emotions,
the buildings are grown,
Shaping who I am,
the seeds I’ve sown.

For everything is crafted from these hues,
Memories and emotions,
fragile but true,
They may falter and fade,
hard to discern,
But still, they shimmer,
forever to yearn.

Furoshiki Accessory Project - Making different bags with 2 rings & a band and 2 button bands

2023

Object design with synthetic leather, fabric, acrylic board, and plastic film.

Rings: d-10cm, Bands: max. 60cm, Button bands: L-12cm, W-5cm

In the Furoshiki Accessory Project, I designed two sets of accessories for both large and small furoshiki. The two posters showcase my final products and demonstrate various tying methods. The first design features two double-sided colour rings and an adjustable band. These accessories can help create bags for carrying plants and drinks, large handbags, crossbody bags, and even serve decorative purposes. The second design consists of two double-sided colour button bands, which allow people to create convenient bags for short and long umbrellas.

My Diary Lamp

2023

Lamp design with resin, laser cut acrylic boards and wood boards

Lampstand: 2.5cm x 10cm, Puzzle: 4.5cm x 10cm, Base Circle Puzzles: 5cm

Lamps hold a special place in my life, symbolizing comfort and guidance as I always keep one by my bedside to alleviate my fear of darkness.  Through theoretical research, I discovered that lamps are artefacts that record significant moments in time. They not only provide illumination but also empower people to explore the world.

My Diary Lamp consists of a blue glow-in-dark lampstand and a colourful puzzle lampshade. Inspired by my personal diary, each puzzle fragment is shaped like a memory bubble, representing a specific incident from my exchange journey in Nagoya. By accumulating enough puzzles, the lampshade can be built to any desired height. Through these experiences, we shape our identities and become the individuals we are today.
