藝術家簡介
Lam Lok Yiu is from Hong Kong. She is interested in exploring Hong Kong culture with different media. In her previous practices, she has examined the topic of deep-rooted cultural traditions in daily life in Hong Kong through oil paintings, Chinese murals, ceramics, seal carving, Chinese calligraphy, and graphic design.
林洛瑤來自香港。她對以不同媒介探索香港文化深感興趣。於過往的創作中,她透過油畫、中國壁畫、陶瓷、篆刻、中國書法和平面設計等媒介,探討香港日常生活中根深蒂固的文化傳統。

Reenacting Nüwa’s gesture: earth, Tuan, me. I carve her face in clay—as she once shaped people. The glass half-bust, face indistinct. Time has blurred the myth itself. Glass is born: it bears the soul of Chinese myth, merging fragile beauty with culture, in light and shadow once again.
重演女媧的捏塑:泥土、摶、我。
我泥土雕刻她的面容—— 正如她當年親手捏塑出人。
而玻璃鑄出的半身像,面孔模糊。
時間,讓神話本身也失去了清晰。
於是琉璃誕生:它承載中國神話的靈魂,
讓脆弱的文化之美,在光影中重新合為一體。

The rhinoceros is driven to the brink of extinction by a tragic irony. For centuries, its horn was deified, attributed with medicinal powers it does not possess. Modern science confirms the horn, made of keratin like fingernails, has no curative value. Yet, the persistent myth fuels relentless poaching. The animal is thus killed for a promise that was always an illusion, its survival sacrificed to a futile superstition.
犀牛因一場荒謬的諷刺而瀕臨滅絕:牠的角被神化為藥材,但科學證實其成分與指甲無異,毫無療效。然而,頑固的迷信仍驅使著盜獵。犀牛因此為一個虛假的承諾付出生命,牠的存亡淪為一場徒勞迷信的犧牲品。
The hippopotamus, with the largest mouth of any land animal, embodies the Eastern cultural concept of prosperity through its “gold-swallowing” presence. Its mighty jaws, resembling a mythical treasure basin, symbolize the powerful inflow and containment of wealth and fortune

河馬生就陸上第一巨口,在東方文化中恰似活聚寶盆,象徵氣吞萬金、廣納財源的豐饒氣象。其貌敦厚穩重,寓含財大氣粗之吉兆,是招財納福的靈瑞之獸。
