藝術家簡介
Lau Long Yiu Beryl (b. 2003) is an artist based in Hong Kong. Her work primarily explores interactive installations, delving into themes of absurdity and human connection. She believes that the interaction between the and the artwork is crucial, as it fosters a deeper understanding and engagement with themes she presents. She views art not just as a visual experience but as a form of therapy for audiences, offering a space reflection and emotional release.
In 2025, she received her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Visual Arts degree from the Academy of Visual Arts, Hong Kong Baptist University.

The Cabinet of Absence is a participatory project, where memories linger as threads, and every unknitting is a quiet act of letting go. In the cabinet, I left an unfinished scarf, a present I planned to give to her yet I didn’t have the chance to. Now, it exists as a vessel—a place to hold your grief, your regret and your untold stories. Each knot you make is a release, a transformation of absence into something tender and shared.

Traffic cone is normally used for traffic control or to stop some kind of movement, but I was trying to change the function, play and explore absurdity by wearing the hat and walk around places, from MTR stations to park and to school. Welcome to wear my hat and walk around!

Flooding U, a series of four, illustrates the drowning of Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). Taking the word「浸」of the university as a word joke, this work presents the flooding scene of HKBU, in which the main building, CVA, and AAB are being flooded gradually in the series. In the end, everything was being washed away, representing the increasing antipathy I have with my university and the growing desire for the university to be flooded so I do not have to attend school.

“Ad Astra” invites participants to engage with the concept of care through the metaphor of stars. This interactive installation addresses those who feel their potential is dimmed, encouraging them to discover their inner sparks. By poking holes in large paper screens, viewers transform into starmakers, allowing light to filter through and form collaborative constellations on the wall behind them, symbolizing the importance of nurturing one another and recognizing our shared brilliance. Ultimately, “Ad Astra” fosters a space for reflection and connection, where each participant’s contribution illuminates the beauty of their unique journey toward self-discovery and empowerment.

每個人都有屬於自己的光芒，卻往往因為與別人比較和自我懷疑而內耗，忘記了自己同樣是發光發亮的。透過與作品的互動，希望觀眾能夠化身為「凡星」，刺穿發亮的答案紙，並像星火一樣，在星空中繪畫屬於自己獨一無二的曙光。
