Lau On Yiu, Kristy, a Hong Kong-based artist
and graduate of the Academy of Visual Arts at
Hong Kong Baptist University, focuses her
practice on painting and drawing, primarily using
oil and acrylic. Her visually striking works are
characterized by high-saturated and vibrant
colors, bold textures, and repetitive decorative
lines that create a three-dimensional effect. Infused
with a sense of contradiction and surrealism, her
art utilizes exhilarating color tones with unsettling
imagery, evoking an emotional response. Drawing
inspiration from her childhood experiences filled
with trauma and fear, Kristy explores themes that
are both creepy and captivating, reflecting the
complex interplay of emotions that continue to
influence her work today.
