藝術家簡介

Liang Jin Man
梁錦漫

Liang Jin Man is from Hong Kong. She blends sculpture and painting in her pieces. She developed her own thoughts and enhanced her own introspection to examine interpersonal relationships by drawing on her experience and sensing the surroundings. Her paintings emphasise details, straightforward, and uncomplicated presentation techniques. She prefers to paint in secret, using her own narrative to paint her own works. Giving a story from her “self” point of view.

Liang used delicate and repetitive brushstrokes to interpret black and white lines, and later used sketches to shape the environmental structure. The colour she uses is mainly black and white. The feeling of calm and without colour fluctuations is a sense of security for her. It’s just a repetitive use of a brush to draw, and takes time to draw each stroke. For her, she only needs a piece of paper and a pen to draw infinitely.

Layers 脆弱

Ink on Xuan paper

墨筆紙本

On the way home, there is a patch of Allamanda flowers. They once bloomed with vigor. One day, as I leaned in to look, I saw that many had already withered — shriveled into a deep brown, yet still clinging stubbornly to their branches.

Under an invisible pressure, I lose my sense of direction, like those fading flowers.

I hide among layer after layer of blossoms — hiding, escaping. Every day I do more or less the same thing, one thing after another.

I paint them as if I were painting myself.

In repetition, I seek inner peace and look within.

Ink on Paper

41 x 57 cm

Derived from personal experience, the whole artwork includes various stories from the artist’s personal experience. A feeling that lacks identity and is unable to enter another person’s life is secret admiration. The only way to do anything is to hide. Ultimately, the artist can remember the priceless possessions of those two individuals’ memories. Through transferring and combining various patterns to express the feeling of someone who leaves in the future. Encouraging people to be optimistic when they face difficulties in life, no matter what happens.

The ceramic sculpture becomes a memorial of two people who can’t meet again. The man and the woman share a body but are back-to-back.

Wood(Palo Santo)

1 x 1 x 10 cm

There are constantly various difficulties and challenges in life. For instance, interpersonal communication issues, a backlog of schoolwork, unfinished tasks… These problems begin to resemble a massive brick wall blocking one's path forward.

Actually, there are constantly a variety of difficulties and challenges. For instance, the interpersonal communication between people, a backlog of schoolwork from the previous week, unfinished tasks… It resembles a substantial brick wall obstructing people's path. Panic (), Irritable (), Annoying (), Explosive (), Rotten (爛)' are just a few of the feelings that sprang to mind as a result. Anger and negative feelings permeate every word.

The pictorial seal is a metaphor for overcoming these difficulties. As Palo Santo’s bricks are carved, the fractures spread like when people hit a brick wall with their hands. Negative words are inscribed on one side of the wood, and it is then burnt. All of the tension and unpleasant feelings have been reduced to ashes, and the smoke that remains after the stress has been resolved is people's greatest source of solace.
