ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

藝術家簡介

Born and based in Hong Kong, Lo Lok Yi is interested in the complexity of human communication in different forms and contexts. Our thinking is shaped by how we communicate; her creation is what provides her with a fresh perspective of seeing and understanding. Lo is also inspired by her personal history, some of which was explored in her previous practices through drawing and painting. By blending abstract techniques with personal objects and narratives, she creates works that reflect how the means of communication influence our relationship with others.

Correspondence (Diptych)

Oil and graphite tracing on letter paper mounted on wood

90 x 180 cm

The artist captures her corporeal traces from repetitive writing to symbolize the authenticity and nuances of correspondence. By indirectly writing and tracing the same sentence, the work embodies her physical labour while serving as a record of time.
