In The Name of Art critiques the phenomenon of art toys, reflecting on their role in the aftermath of Pop Art. These figurines are not simply artworks that reference toys; they are designed to be played with and resist the subduction of toys and toy culture underneath the marketing imperative of contemporary art, where objects might look like toys, but are never to be played with. In The Name of Art questions the totalising financial logic that evaluates contemporary art, and exists as both an art object and an object of play.
