Sheren Tang is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Visual Arts. She has a strong passion for Chinese traditional art forms, such as ceramics and Chinese traditional craftsmanship. She has taught herself various craft skills through learning experiences. Her interests lie in incorporating Eastern aesthetics into contemporary art.
During her studies, she has mainly focused on researching various forms of Chinese intangible cultural heritage. This has fostered her passion for cultural preservation and the broader sharing of artistic heritage. Her future goals are to promote lesser-known traditional Chinese crafts, facilitate cultural exchange, contribute to society with her talents, and become an artist who makes a positive impact on society.

During the firing, the glaze flows, crystallises, and mixes; producing rich layers and intricate textures. In some areas, the glaze builds up thick like drops; in other areas, it covers lightly like mist, showing the clay body underneath.

Trying to showcase the intangible cultural heritage of Tongcao flowers in a specimen-like manner, the work demonstrated its structure through dissection.
Taking it apart in a specimen-like format provides an up-close examination of the craft, conveying its sophistication in a hands-on, visual manner that compels appreciation for the traditional techniques employed.
By integrating the unique techniques of cloisonné enamel and Tongcao flowers, along with using innovative display methods, I showcased the beauty and skills of intangible cultural heritage crafts. This approach preserves the unique materials required for these crafts while highlighting their distinctiveness. The plant structures are clearly visible under a magnifying glass, while the petals-like reflection emerges under illumination, showcasing the material’s unique properties.
