Wong Ka Ying Candyce is a Hong Kong-based artist specializing in oil painting. She works in a spontaneous and childlike style, often let her subconscious mind guide her through her creation. She believes it is the most comfortable and authentic way for her to create—using the most straightforward and easiest-to-draw elements to piece together images that is full of possibilities. Her works are never about the major events or significant moments of her life, but the fragments and fleeting sensations of daily existence. She believes that major events often leave clear traces and can be recorded with a lot of external evidence, but the subtle, intimate feelings are prone to fade away. Therefore, she likes to create testimonies for these subtle moments and feelings through her creation. Through the creation process, she spends time with these small fragments in life, transforming them into long-lasting moments.
