ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Yip Chak Ho Eros is a visual artist and graduating student from the Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Visual Arts programme at Hong Kong Baptist University. His practice explores the multisensory perception of urban environments, using scent, light, and shadow as artistic media to evoke subtle emotional resonance and reorient the audience's sensory awareness.
Drawing from horticultural research, fragrance chemistry, and phenomenological inquiry, Yip's works question the visual dominance in contemporary art and propose smell as an equally vital language of spatial experience. Through slow, immersive installations, he constructs intimate smellscapes that reflect the temporal and environmental rhythms of Hong Kong's urban ecology.
Yip has participated in the group exhibition "SustainAbilityArt" at the Goethe-Institut in 2023, and "OUT OF THE CURVE" at the Jockey Club Campus of Creativity from 10 to 15 April 2025. He is currently developing his honours research project focusing on "smellscapes" in the context of Hong Kong.
曾參與展覽包括:2023年於歌德學院舉辦的群展《SustainAbilityArt》,以及2025年4月10日至15日於創意學院賽馬會創意藝術中心(Jockey Club Campus of Creativity)展出的《OUT OF THE CURVE》。

“My Smellscape 2026” takes Hong Kong Velodrome Park as a starting point. Through walking, pausing, and breathing, I reconnect with my senses and body in the present moment. By revisiting the same route at different times, I record changes in scent and environmental details, revealing how smell shifts with its surroundings. The growth and pruning of plants introduce unpredictability, reflecting the changing nature of life and allowing the work to continuously evolve and unfold.

Reflecting on the ways we perceive and experience the concepts of ‘rest' and ‘nature', this installation used white pillows and dry leaves to remake the blurred boundary between indoor and outdoor environments.
My design concept is an immersive installation that engages the audience in a multi-sensory journey through scent and sound. The deliverable is a sculptural space with aromatic diffusion and audio narratives, aimed at evoking personal memories. It's set in a gallery context, with a visual concept of white, streamlined forms representing brain waves.
The site-specific practices are about urban cracks, traces of time, and sensory experience. The work ultimately presents itself as a collapsed plaster ‘wall’ on the grass, with plaster blocks randomly distributed, some embedded in the soil and naturally integrated with the environment.
