ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
藝術家簡介
Isis Yue is from Hong Kong. Her work encompasses paper work, design and sculpture. She is likely to discover the properties of any object is essential for creating a work.
She is fascinated by exploring environmental problems. In her previous projects, she did some sculptures about the environment and animals. This includes deforestation, mentioning about forests being cleared, and talking slashing-and-burning methods to destroy the forest, then how all the organism lose their original habitats, and lead to ecological damage. She hopes people to realise the consequences of excessive development through those work.
Sometimes, social issues also serve as her inspiration for creating design works. She creates works based on the Hong Kong social issues, exploring the changes in people’s lives and the differences in streets and the news of Hong Kong, and question as a local Hong Kong citizen about what is getting different. Besides, she is interested in discovering shopping habits of people in their daily life. This year, she focused on consumerism and overproduction, which lead to resource waste. Through exploring pathological consumption habits and aesthetics, she rethinks whether a preference of a certain product is truly a matter of personal taste and aesthetics.
余曉嵐來自香港。她的作品涵蓋紙藝術、設計和雕塑,對任何物件的特性的探索是她創作的關鍵。
她熱衷於探索環境議題。在她之前的專案中,她創作了一些關於環境和動物的雕塑作品,例如森林砍伐。作品中提及森林被砍伐,以及刀耕火種等破壞森林的方法,並探討了所有生物如何失去原有棲息地,造成生態破壞。她希望透過這些作品,人們能夠意識到過度開發的後果。
此外,社會議題也成為她創作設計作品的靈感來源。她以香港社會議題為創作基礎,探索人們生活的變遷、香港街頭巷尾的差異以及新聞報道,並提出作為一名香港本地居民,她自身經歷的種種變化。此外,她也關注人們的日常購物習慣。今年,她著重探討了消費主義和過度生產導致的資源浪費,探究病態的消費習慣和美學,並重新思考對某種產品的喜愛是否真的僅僅關乎個人品味和美學。

What exactly is the definition of a luxury brand? How are luxury brand products defined? What is my purpose in buying one? Is it out of interest? Curiosity? Or following a trend? Do people like the design, or the brand effect behind it? This project mainly explores people’s attitudes towards brand collections. Will people give up purchase of a product due to various considerations, or will they believe that brand collections always have their unique features?
名牌的定義究竟是什麼?名牌產品究竟如何定義?我購買的目的是什麼?是出於愛好?好奇心?還是追逐潮流?人們喜歡的是他的設計,還是背後的品牌效應?本作品主要探討人們對品牌系列的態度。人們會因為多方面的考量而放棄購買某件產品,還是會認為品牌系列總有其獨特之處?
